It’s a natural progression that those beaches now share space with the new generation of kite-surfers. Great temperature, beautiful beaches aside, the famous Meltemi winds (dry northern winds) of the Aegean hit the coasts during the summer months and get downright wicked in July and August. So for the adventurous travelers, who want to mix sports with natural beauty, Greece is the spot to plan your Kite Surfing vacation.

Prasonisi, Rhodes

Prasonisi Beach is located at the southern point of the island of Rhodes. There are direct flights to Rhodes or Kos. A sandy beach peninsula connects the mainland with the sandbank offshore that you will find many times flooded by the tides. Kitesurfing schools, restaurants and supermarkets are close to the spot whereas a year round infrastructure outside the season is not available. During the summer season the Meltemi dominates the spot with strong Northerlies blowing in with 4-7 Beaufort. Days without wind are practically not existent in July and August. The wind hits the beach almost in a 90 degree angle. Surfing parallel to the beach therefore easy to do. Der Wind trifft fast im rechten Winkel auflandig von der Seite auf die Landzunge. Waves measure between 0,5m to soemtimes 2m and break about 50m off the sandy beach. For beginners, the spot offers a 10-30m wide strip close to shore with a depth of water not higher than knee level.

Mastichari, Kos

Mastichari lies on the norrthern end of the island Kos that offers direct international flights from many destinations. The village is small and has maintained a Greek fishermen vibe. The village has connections via bus, ferry, taxi. Restaurants and infrastructure are available. Kos offers extremely reliable wind conditions during the summer months due to its exposure to the north. The Meltemi hits the island many times directly from the North in a 90 degree angle. This may create also bigger waves and conditions that are suitable for beginners. The bay of Mastichari though offers conditions for side and onshore riding for all levels.

Pounta, Paros

Located оn thе west сοаst of Pаrοs, Рounta village is famοus for twо things.
